The Purpose

This blog is an attempt to contribute to the discussion about Polish political arena in objective and knowledgeable manner. Beginning the writing about nearly every subject related to Poland or Poles is not an easy task. It is hard to establish where exactly this colourful country is and who its inhabitants are. In the Western Europe and in the US it is likely that Poland will be considered as an Eastern European State, in contrast in Poland almost everyone is convinced that they live in Central Europe. It is estimated that more than 51 million Poles live on Earth. Majority of them in the motherland (approx. 38 mln) and the rest is scattered all over the globe. Personally, I would be keen on betting that there are not many parts of the World where one would not find someone with Polish roots. It is not, however, the aim of this blog to find the answers on the unanswerable questions of Polish national identity or character, instead it will target Poland as a state. It will try to comment, explain and put in a right context the vivid, unique and important world of Polish politics. As a young democracy and a free country just about to reach twenty, Poland needs an accurate, objective and just approach to be understood and treated as an equal in the game of much more complex international politics.
